Luis practices in the areas of bankruptcy litigation, creditors' rights, commercial litigation, and estate planning.
Luis represents clients ranging from individuals to large, publicly traded corporations. His bankruptcy and creditors' rights litigation practice entails representing the interests of secured and unsecured creditors and court-appointed trustees in Chapter 7, Chapter 11 and Chapter 13 cases as well as in state and federal courts. Luis' state and federal commercial litigation practice consists of a variety of general business, construction, surety, and real estate matters. Additionally, Luis' estate planning practice focuses on clients achieving the peace of mind that comes with knowing all of their personal affairs are in order.
Luis earned his bachelor's degree from Emory University in 1994. In 1997, Luis earned his juris doctorate from Stetson University College of Law where he also served as an Articles Editor on the Stetson Law Review. Luis earned a masters' of law degree in taxation from the University of Miami in 1998.
Luis is a member of the board of directors of the Tampa Bay Bankruptcy Bar Association. He is a member of the American Bankruptcy Institute, the American Bar Association, the Young Lawyer's Division of the Hillsborough County Bar Association and the Florida Bar.
Before forming Brewer Perotti Martinez-Monfort, P.A., Luis was a partner with Mills Paskert Divers, P.A., chairing the firm's bankruptcy and creditors' rights practice group. Prior to that, Luis was an associate with Hill, Ward, & Henderson, P.A. in their bankruptcy and creditors' rights practice group.
A lifelong resident of Tampa and a graduate of Jesuit High School, Luis is active in several civic, charitable and social organizations. He volunteers as an intake attorney for Bay Area Legal Services. He serves on the Jesuit High School Foundation and is a parishioner of Christ the King Catholic Church. He is a member of the Palma Ceia Golf and Country Club and University Club of Tampa. Luis enjoys spending his leisure time with his wife and young daughter, traveling, scuba diving, football, and playing golf.
